As seen in FLARE magazine’s 10 Best Canadian Eco-Shops;

Nicole Ritchie-Oseen stocks Body Politic with the kind of clothing that defies all notions of eco fashion as drab, shapeless and too ‘earthy’ to translate as street wear. “There is a story behind every brand and that is a rare quality,” she says of her carefully selected roster of designers, which includes label, Feral Childe and newcomers Koch. “No one wants to compromise on style, design or ethics, which makes it consistently inspiring!”

what we do

At body politic we began with the belief that sustainable and eco-friendly clothing didn’t mean sacrificing style. The goal was to fuel our absolute love of fashion and distinct style without compromising our environment, our community, or ourselves!

By seeking out the best sustainable designers from across Canada and the United States body politic became, and continues to be, the go-to place for those who seek fashionable yet timeless pieces.

Designers are chosen, not only for their aesthetic, but also for their commitment to source the finest natural and sustainable fabrics, and support of local manufacturing within North America.

who we are

In December 2008 body politic opened in Vancouver’s vibrant South Main district. The tucked-away boutique was quickly embraced, becoming a popular destination, and dispelled completely the notion of eco-fashion as a combination of shapeless silhouettes and uninspiring fabrics. In 2012 body politic transitioned to an exclusively online presence allowing for a broader reach to customers around the world.

We stand by the motto of body politic, “sustainable design – limitless style,” as we continue to support the talented designers who have been ahead of the fashion curve in creating beautiful, interesting, and sustainable collections.
